As a Kindergarten and School designer I see a lot of important concepts with this elegant design for an Elemetary school in the Uryu District, Japan.
The use of light, reflecting materials, natural light and dual aspect provides open airy space for teaching and learning.
The use of the space adjacent for extended learning makes use of space that all too often is deemed “corridor” and is wasted and with the essential transparency between the two spaces that allows for essential supervision works well.
You can also see the acoustic control of these shared spaces on the upper walls which will ensure that noise is managed and thus encourage continued use.
The only missing element in these images for me are display surfaces for the kid’s work that would reduce the sterility somewhat.
